Fechada en 1614, esta obra heterogénea, mezcla de tratado militar, principalmente, pero también de estudio etnográfico, y de relación de hechos a la vez que de arbitrio, manifiesta una descarnada visión de la guerra de Arauco y propone algunas soluciones concretas para enmendar el rumbo de las armas españolas en el hostil territorio indígena ubicado al sur del río Biobío.
